Exxon, BP Hit With MTBE Suit By Mass. Towns

Law360, New York (July 16, 2013, 6:53 PM EDT) -- A slew of major oil companies, including Exxon Mobil Corp, BP PLC and Chevron USA Inc., were hit Monday with a federal lawsuit from three Massachusetts townships and several property owners over alleged groundwater contamination from the gasoline additive methyl tertiary-butyl ether, the latest in a long-running legal battle over the companies' use of the chemical.
