NHTSA Probes Mercedes-Benz Over Brake-Light Fire Hazard

Law360, New York (July 16, 2013, 3:56 PM EDT) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into 218,000 Mercedes-Benz USA LLC sedans that may have a rear brake light and turn signal defect, with several consumers reporting smoke or fire in connection with the problem.

The NHTSA's Office of Defect Investigations opened a preliminary evaluation into Mercedes Benz C Class vehicles from model years 2008 and 2009 on Thursday.
