Jewell Says 'All Of The Above' Energy Plan Guides DOI Policy

Law360, New York (July 17, 2013, 5:02 PM EDT) -- Newly appointed Interior Secretary Sally Jewell on Wednesday defended her department's energy policies as appropriate under President Obama's "all of the above" strategy, in the face of Republican lawmakers’ complaints over its policymaking on issues such as hydraulic fracturing.

Speaking at a hearing of the House Natural Resources Committee, several lawmakers commended Jewell’s background as a former petroleum engineer and business leader, but expressed skepticism about her ability to turn around what committee Chairman Doc Hastings, R-Wash., called “four-and-a-half years of flawed policy” under the Obama administration,...
