Global Regulators Mark AIG, Others For Tougher Regulation

Law360, New York (July 18, 2013, 5:06 PM EDT) -- An international group of regulators on Thursday slated an initial set of insurance heavyweights for higher capital requirements and stricter supervision, naming American International Group Inc., MetLife Inc. and Prudential Financial Inc. and six others as important to global financial stability.

The Financial Stability Board has also labeled Allianz SE, Assicurazioni Generali SpA., Aviva PLC, Axa SA, Ping An Insurance (Group) Co. of China Ltd., and Prudential PLC as global systemically important insurers.
