Neb. AG Launches Probe Of 'Patent Troll' Law Firm

Law360, New York (July 19, 2013, 3:19 PM EDT) -- Nebraska's attorney general on Thursday ordered Texas law firm Farney Daniels PC to stop sending letters threatening to sue state businesses for infringing patents owned by a so-called patent troll while the state investigates whether the letters violate its consumer protection laws.

Attorney General Jon Bruning said that the licensing demand letters sent by the firm, which represents a patent licensing company called MPHJ Technology Investments LLC, may make unsubstantiated allegations of infringement or contain false or misleading statements.
