Car Dealer Fired Employee For Being Too Fat, Suit Claims

Law360, New York (July 22, 2013, 4:30 PM EDT) -- A Missouri man lodged a discrimination lawsuit in federal court Friday against the car dealership where he used to work, claiming he had been illegally fired for being too fat.

Plaintiff Joseph Whittaker — who says he's “severely obese” — claims dealership chain America's Car-Mart Inc. violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Act by terminating his seven-year employment in November.
