WL Gore Escapes Suit Over Heart Device Patent

Law360, New York (July 24, 2013, 1:29 PM EDT) -- A Minnesota federal judge ruled Tuesday that a medical device used to treat structural heart defects manufactured by W.L. Gore & Associates Inc. does not infringe a patent held by rival AGA Medical Corp.

In a two-page order, U.S. District Judge Joan N. Ericksen granted summary judgment in favor of Gore and dismissed AGA Medical's lawsuit. A redacted version of the court's noninfringement findings will be made publicly available in early August at the latest, according to the court.
