DOJ Antitrust Probe Into Fracking Market Underway, Cos. Say

Law360, New York (July 25, 2013, 3:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has opened an antitrust probe into the market for pressure pumping services used in hydraulic fracturing, Baker Hughes Inc. and Halliburton Co. — both leaders in the market — said on Wednesday and Thursday.

Baker Hughes received a civil investigative demand from the DOJ on May 30 in connection with an antitrust investigation, the company stated in a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday.
