AGs Rip EEOC For 'Misguided' BMW, Dollar General Suits

Law360, New York (July 25, 2013, 3:36 PM EDT) -- Recent U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission lawsuits against Dollar General Corp. and BMW Manufacturing Co. LLC over their use of criminal background checks in the hiring process are “misguided” and should be dropped, attorneys general from West Virginia and eight other states said Wednesday. 

In a letter to the EEOC the attorneys general said the agency ought to rescind enforcement guidance it issued in 2012 and “dismiss” the June suits, which alleged that the companies' use of criminal background checks disproportionately screened out black job applicants...
