Fed. Circ. Rejects Bimeda Bovine Anti-Inflammatory Patent

Law360, New York (July 25, 2013, 3:12 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Thursday affirmed the rejection of a patent held by animal health products maker Bimeda Research & Development Ltd. related to a treatment aimed at reducing the risk of inflammation in cow udders, saying the patent did not disclose the full scope of the claimed invention.

The appellate court's decision backs a ruling by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Bimeda's patent, which covers methods for preventing the onset of bovine mastitis, does not satisfy the written description...
