S&N Settles $56M Trade Secrets Suit Against Contractors

Law360, New York (July 25, 2013, 5:32 PM EDT) -- Medical device maker Smith & Nephew Inc. has reached a deal to settle its $56 million trade secrets suit against its former sales managers and representatives alleging the independent contractors violated their noncompete agreements by taking jobs with a rival, according documents filed Thursday in Tennessee federal court.

The deal halts S&N's suit against Northwest Ortho Plus Inc., which for 17 years had contracted with S&N to provide salespeople and staff for the company in the Northwest. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but the parties...
