Enbridge Units Sued Over Minn. Pipeline Discharge

Law360, New York (July 26, 2013, 1:31 PM EDT) -- Units of Canadian pipeline transport giant Enbridge Inc. were hit with a lawsuit Thursday by U.S. environmental authorities over discharges from certain pipeline testing operations that allegedly polluted lakes and eroded hillsides in Minnesota.

Enbridge Energy LP and Enbridge Pipelines LLC, which control parallel pipelines from Alberta, Canada, violated the Clean Water Act and the terms of their National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit that restricts such discharges, according to the complaint filed in Minnesota federal court by the U.S. Department of Justice's Environment and Natural...
