Einhorn's Greenlight Capital Sues Rival Over Similar Name

Law360, New York (July 25, 2013, 6:09 PM EDT) -- David Einhorn's Greenlight Capital LLC sued Green Light Equity Partners LLC in Florida federal court Thursday for trademark infringement for having too similar a moniker.

Asking the court for a permanent injunction and damages, the hedge fund says it sent Green Light Equity a letter in March warning the unaffiliated group that it was using Einhorn's intellectual property.

“Defendant uses the infringing mark to promote the same type of services as plaintiff's registered marks are used in connection with, investment related services such as 'investment management,'”...
