Fortune 500 Companies Buy Green Power

Law360, New York (February 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Dozens of Fortune 500 companies have stepped up to the Environmental Protection Agency's nationwide challenge to invest in green power, with 53 of them collectively purchasing more than 6 billion kilowatt-hours per year, thereby exceeding the EPA's goals.

The companies' purchases, answering the agency's December 2006 call to purchase more renewable energy, are the equivalent of more than 570 million gallons of gasoline per year in terms of carbon dioxide emissions, the EPA said.
