BP Nets $1.5M In Atty Fees From Chesapeake Title Defect Suit
Law360, New York (July 29, 2013, 7:43 PM EDT) -- An Oklahoma federal judge on Monday ordered Chesapeake Exploration LLC to pay BP America Production Co. $1.4 million in attorneys' fees, following BP's $22 million win in a contract suit over title defects on wells Chesapeake sold to BP.
U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange rebuffed the Chesapeake Energy Corp. unit's argument that an arbitration panel and another judge declined to award fees related to arbitration proceedings over the purchase sale agreement at issue, finding they only deferred ruling on fees until further proceedings were completed.
