BSEE Launches Panel Probe Into Hercules Rig Blowout

Law360, New York (July 30, 2013, 2:57 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has opened a probe into last week’s natural gas well blowout and subsequent fire on a Hercules Offshore Inc. rig off the coast of Louisiana, it announced Monday.

According to the BSEE, it has launched a panel investigation into the blowout at the well — known as the South Timbalier Block 220 Well A-3, or Hercules 265 — to determine the cause, or causes, of the incident and issue recommendations on how to prevent...
