PayPal Accused Of Stepping On E-Currency Patents

Law360, New York (July 31, 2013, 3:53 PM EDT) -- PayPal Inc. was hit with a lawsuit in Delaware federal court Tuesday brought by an Israeli company that says the e-commerce business infringes its patents covering electronic currency.

MoneyCat Ltd. says the eBay Inc. subsidiary has been directly infringing its patents by using electronic payment systems, products and services covered by its patents.

The three patents at issue, U.S. Patent Number 7,590,602 issued in 2009; 8,195,578, its continuation issued in 2012; and 8,051,011, a divisional patent issued in 2011, are all owned by MoneyCat and cover...
