Japan To Lift Wheat Ban After GMO Scare

Law360, New York (July 31, 2013, 3:59 PM EDT) -- Japan said Tuesday that it would resume importing wheat from the U.S., two months after it banned the shipments when a rogue strain of genetically modified wheat was discovered in a field in Oregon.

The ban — which has been in place since May 30 — on western white wheat for human consumption will be lifted  on Aug 1 and on soft white wheat for animal feed on Aug 7, according to a translated announcement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
