Eutelsat Pays $831M For Mexican Satellite Operator

Law360, New York (July 31, 2013, 11:53 AM EDT) -- European satellite company Eutelsat SA will scale up its operations in buzzing Latin America with its $831 million purchase of Satelites Mexicanos SA de CV, it said Wednesday, the company's latest move into high-potential emerging markets.

Under the deal's terms, the Paris-listed buyer will cover the purchase price with cash, financed through a bridge loan from an unspecified lender. Including debt, privately held Satmex is valued at $1.1 billion in the transaction, which Eutelsat expects to button up before the end of the year.
