ITC Opens Section 337 Probe Into Pantech Phones, Tablets

Law360, New York (July 31, 2013, 8:34 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission launched an investigation Wednesday into allegations by Pragmatus Mobile LLC that South Korea-based smartphone giant Pantech Co. Ltd.'s phones and tablets infringe two of the intellectual-property licensing company's patents.

The probe will focus on Pragmatus' accusations that devices made by Pantech and imported and sold in the U.S. by one of its subsidiaries violate patents covering phones and tablets that can be tracked using global-positioning-system signals, the commission said.
