Sen. Slams Walgreen After Employee Trumpets 340B Profits

Law360, New York (August 1, 2013, 1:58 PM EDT) -- The beleaguered 340B drug-discount program for safety-net hospitals and low-income patients came under fresh fire on Wednesday as Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, pounced on public boasting about profits by a Walgreen Co. employee and demanded extensive financial information from the pharmacy chain.

In a three-page letter, Grassley homed in on the LinkedIn profile of Walgreen analyst Timothy Hong, whose page describes 340B as a significant income source for the company.
