Abbott Sues To Block Generic Depakote, Again

Law360 (February 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Abbott Laboratories has moved again to forestall a generic version of its billion-dollar anti-seizure drug Depakote, lobbing a lawsuit at Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. that claims Sun's proposed generic medication infringes on its patents.

The generic drug described in the abbreviated new drug application that Sun filed on Dec. 20 would infringe on four patents for the controlled-release version of Depakote, the company alleges in its lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court of Eastern Michigan.
