Senate Confirms USPTO's Chen To Fed. Circ.

Law360, New York (August 1, 2013, 7:21 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday unanimously confirmed the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Raymond Chen to the Federal Circuit, who is poised to become the first Asian-Pacific American to serve on the court in more than two decades.

The 97-0 vote means Chen, the USPTO's deputy general counsel for intellectual property law and solicitor, will fill the seat vacated by U.S. Circuit Judge Richard Linn, who assumed senior status last October. Chen is the second judge the Senate has confirmed to the Federal Circuit this year....
