Bipartisan Sens. Look To Revamp Hydropower Regulations

Law360, Washington (August 2, 2013, 4:14 PM EDT) -- The bipartisan leaders of the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee introduced a bill Thursday to streamline hydropower project regulation and promote private investments in the industry, placing the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission at the head of the new regime.

Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, bemoaned that no commercial marine hydrokinetic projects exist in the country currently, and maintained the Marine and Hydrokinetic Renewable Energy Act of 2013 would spark additional research, development and interest in the projects.
