First DRAM Price-Fixing Criminal Trial Starts Up

Law360, New York (February 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hynix Semiconductor Inc. sales executive Gary Swanson's trial over a dynamic random access memory price-fixing conspiracy began on Tuesday, becoming the only criminal case over the alleged scheme to go to trial so far.

Swanson was charged in October 2006 with participating in a scheme between April 2001 and June 2002 to pump up the prices of DRAM. He was indicted along with two executives from Samsung Electronics Ltd., Il Ung Kim and Young Bae Rha.
