Court Won't Open Lawyers' Files To Ex-Westar Exec

Law360, New York (February 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has rebuffed a former Westar Energy Inc. executive's bid to access documents produced by his former employer's counsel. The executive hoped to find evidence that the company helped the government in the fraud case against him in order to escape being prosecuted itself.

In an order Monday, Judge Julie A. Robinson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas denied a request by Douglas T. Lake to subpoena documents from attorneys with Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP, which served as criminal attorneys...
