Japan's Marubeni Takes $132M Stake In Irish Renewables Co.

Law360, New York (August 5, 2013, 1:41 PM EDT) -- Japanese power company Marubeni Corp. has agreed to acquire a 25 percent stake in Irish wind and solar project developer Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd. for €100 million ($132 million) in equity, the companies said Monday.

Marubeni, Japan's leading independent power producer, will gain seats on Mainstream's board of directors alongside Barclays PLC, which invested in the renewable energy company in 2008. The acquisition would be the largest single equity investment in the history of Mainstream, which launched in 2008 with help from Barclays.
