6th Circ. OKs Atty Sanctions In Chevron Contamination Suit

Law360, New York (August 5, 2013, 8:35 PM EDT) -- The Sixth Circuit on Friday upheld $250,000 in sanctions leveled against attorneys for a group of Ohio residents bringing allegedly frivolous medical-monitoring claims against Chevron Corp., also affirming the exclusion of expert testimony and other rulings against the plaintiffs.

So-called Rule 11 sanctions were imposed in July 2012 against five attorneys from Lundy Lundy Soileau & South LLP and Brent Coon & Associates LLP who represented plaintiffs suing Chevron over environmental contamination and illnesses allegedly caused by a company refinery in Ohio.
