Fed. Circ. Revives Ex-Worker's IP Suit Against Verizon Unit

Law360, New York (August 6, 2013, 6:05 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Tuesday revived a former employee's patent suit against a company that is now part of Verizon Communications Inc., finding that a lower court incorrectly held that a settlement with the employee absolves the company of all infringement liability.

The complicated legal dispute between Walter Beriont and GTE Laboratories Inc., which began in 1996, involves a patent for a method to improve low frequency power distribution within a cable TV network that Beriont developed while working for GTE as an engineer.
