FTC Approves Fur Ad Deal With Retailers Despite Concerns

Law360, New York (August 6, 2013, 8:32 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday approved settlements barring retailers The Neiman Marcus Group Inc., DrJays.com Inc. and Eminent Inc. from misrepresenting the fur content of their products for the next 20 years, overriding pleas from several consumers to strengthen the pacts.

In order to resolve the regulator's claims that they misled consumers by falsely marketing products that contained real fur as containing “faux fur,” the retailers agreed in March to enter into proposed consent orders that prohibit them from violating the Fur Product Labeling Act...
