Semiconductor Cos. Clash Over Philips-AT&T Pact

Law360, New York (February 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Netherlands-based semiconductor company originally founded by technology giant Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV has filed a lawsuit to block patent infringement allegations by rival LSI Corp.

A U.S. subsidiary of NXP Semiconductors filed the suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, seeking declaratory judgment of noninfringement of 13 LSI patents for semiconductor technology.

NXP claims that it is licensed under the patents through a pact between Philips and AT&T Corp., which was originally assigned the patents.
