Stryker Wins $210M In Device Patent Suit Against Zimmer

Law360, Los Angeles (August 7, 2013, 10:26 PM EDT) -- A Michigan federal judge on Wednesday slapped Zimmer Inc. with $210 million in treble damages for infringing rival Stryker Corp.'s surgical irrigation patents, saying evidence of Zimmer's willful infringement strongly supported tripling the jury award.

In granting Stryker's post-trial motion for enhanced damages, U.S. District Judge Robert Jonker noted that a witness at trial testified Zimmer deliberately copied Stryker's patented invention.
