Provident Escapes Fired Underwriter's Race Bias Suit

Law360, New York (August 7, 2013, 7:44 PM EDT) -- A Utah federal judge on Monday dismissed a Title VII race bias and retaliation suit brought by a former mortgage underwriter at Provident Funding Associates LP, who claimed he had been terminated just a week after complaining about discriminatory harassment.

U.S. District Judge Dee Benson granted Provident's motion for summary judgment and dismissed plaintiff Kashif Bhatti's suit alleging a hostile work environment, disparate treatment and retaliation.
