Paralegal Sues Bankruptcy Firm Over Wrongful Termination

Law360, New York (August 9, 2013, 2:58 PM EDT) -- A former paralegal for Simon Resnik & Hayes LLP on Thursday hit the firm with a wrongful termination lawsuit, alleging the California bankruptcy law firm forced her to work through lunch, didn't pay her overtime and ultimately fired her when she objected to its policies.

The firm fired Carla Muskrath on Feb. 8, after the paralegal complained about being denied a 30-minute lunch period and not receiving overtime payments, according to the complaint filed Thursday in California Superior Court in Los Angeles County. Just before her...
