Day Pitney Will Lay Off Up To 40 Staff, Attorneys

By Ama Sarfo (August 9, 2013, 3:50 PM EDT) -- Day Pitney LLP plans to trim up to 40 support staff and attorneys from its ranks in the coming months, citing a changing legal industry, the firm told Law360 on Friday.

Firm spokeswoman Xenia Kobylarz told Law360 that about 30 staff members have been laid off immediately. Later this fall, the firm will lay off fewer than 10 attorneys, she said.

"As the legal industry changes, we continually evaluate and reshape our staff to better align with industry norms and client expectations for excellence," the firm said in a statement. "This reduction ... brings us more in line with industrywide attorney/staff...
