Lawmaker Demands Probe Of Iran-Venezuela Oil Deal

Law360, New York (February 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Seeking to enforce the Iran Sanctions Act, a Republican lawmaker has called on President George W. Bush to open an investigation into a petrochemical agreement between the governments of Venezuela and Iran to see if it breaks U.S. law.

U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) on Wednesday urged the president to inquire further about the deal struck at the end of last year between Venezuela's state-run Petroleos de Venezuela SA, known in the U.S. as CITGO, and Petropars, a branch of the National Iranian Oil Company....
