Texas Court Of Criminal Appeals Chief Settles Ethics Case

Law360, Houston (August 9, 2013, 8:42 PM EDT) -- Texas’ top criminal appeals judge and a state ethics commission struck a deal Thursday to resolve a record fine imposed against the judge for failing to disclose nearly $4 million in earnings and assets on annual financial statements.

The Texas Ethics Commission voted 7-0 to approve a $25,000 settlement with Court of Criminal Appeals Presiding Judge Sharon Keller, who had been fighting a $100,000 fine the commission slapped her with in 2010 for omitting stock, real estate and other income from mandated public disclosures.
