IP Suit Against Mobile App Maker Launched In Wrong Venue

Law360, New York (August 12, 2013, 4:19 PM EDT) -- A Virginia federal judge tossed a suit against a mobile app designer over its alleged infringement of a Texas company's messaging-service patent, after finding that the court lacked jurisdiction over the dispute.

U.S. District Judge John Gibney Jr. dismissed Intercarrier Communications LLC's infringement suit without prejudice after finding that the Ontario, Canada-based app maker the company had sued, Kik Interactive Inc., did not have enough contact with the Eastern District of Virginia for the court to hear the case.
