Obama Signs 2 Hydropower Bills To Boost Jobs

Law360, Los Angeles (August 12, 2013, 8:03 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Friday signed into law two bills that promise to build up hydropower projects in the U.S., aiming to triple the more than 300,000 jobs in the industry by streamlining the regulatory process for the projects.

The Hydropower Regulatory Efficiency Act amends two existing acts to streamline the way hydropower projects are regulated and enable them to put out more power and still qualify for a small-projects exemption from certain license requirements, according to the text of the bill.
