ABA Backs Safeguards For Attys' In-House Communications

Law360, New York (August 13, 2013, 6:19 PM EDT) -- The American Bar Association's policymaking body passed without opposition a resolution supporting an attorney's right to confidential communications with their in-house counsel.

The resolution was presented to the ABA's 560-member house of delegates on Monday at the association's annual conference, which ended Tuesday in San Francisco.

It urges all government and legislative bodies to support the principle that such communications are privileged "to the same extent as such confidential communications between personnel of a corporation or other entity and that entity's in-house counsel would be protected."...
