USPTO Rejects One Of NTP's BlackBerry Patents

Law360 (December 1, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Only a day after a judge threw out the settlement agreement between Blackberry maker Research in Motion Ltd. and NTP Inc., the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected one of the five patents at the center of the dispute.

In a “non-final” action, all claims in patent 6,067,451 were rejected, according to the USPTO’s website.

The patent appears to have been rejected because of technology owned by Norwegian telecommunications company Telenor, which predates NTP's claims.
