Wis. Archdiocese Creditors Ask Judge To Step Down

Law360, New York (August 14, 2013, 6:38 PM EDT) -- Creditors of the bankrupt Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee claimed Monday that the federal judge who denied them access to $55 million held by a church trust had a conflict of interest, and asked the judge to recuse himself and vacate his ruling.

The trust was created to maintain the archdiocese's cemeteries and U.S. District Judge Rudolph T. Randa's decision to place its funds beyond the reach of the creditors was improper since he has nine relatives buried on church grounds, according to a pair of motions...
