Would-Be Firefighters Sue Chicago Fire Department

Law360 (February 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Just as it is ushering in a fresh class of recruits, the Chicago Fire Department is being hit with a lawsuit by a group of disgruntled applicants who claim the city all but promised to hire them before choosing from a newer list of firefighter hopefuls.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in a Cook County court by more than 60 Chicago firefighter applicants, claims that city officials put the group through rigorous strength tests, drug screenings and background checks in 2006, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday....
