ITC Finds Digital Trade Growing Fast, But Barriers Remain

Law360, New York (August 16, 2013, 4:57 PM EDT) -- The U.S. had a trade surplus with respect to exporting educational, health care and other services via the Internet between 2007 and 2011, when such exports rose by $74 billion, according to a U.S. International Trade Commission report released Thursday detailing the rapid growth of digital trade worldwide.

Exports of “digitally enabled” services grew from $282.1 billion to $356.1 billion during those years, according to the 280-page report that detailed the role of digital trade in the U.S. and global economies and identified the barriers facing...
