EU Seeks WTO Panel Over 'Unjustified' Chinese Tube Duties

Law360, New York (August 16, 2013, 1:30 PM EDT) -- The European Union said Friday that it has asked the World Trade Organization to rule on whether anti-dumping duties China is imposing on European imports of high-performance stainless steel tubes violate international trade law.

The EU formally requested the WTO establish a dispute resolution panel to decide on the Chinese anti-dumping measures. Stainless steel imports to China, accounting for as much as €90 million ($120 million) in 2009, have plummeted since the duties went into effect last year, according to the EU.
