Ore. Ups The Ante For Insurers Facing Enviro Claims

Law360, New York (August 16, 2013, 8:48 PM EDT) -- Environmental coverage litigation will be even more hard-fought in Oregon with the passage of a sweeping new law that for the first time hangs the threat of treble damages over insurers that don't abide by a host of rules for handling pollution claims.

Oregon put S.B. 814 on its books in June, handing policyholders a new right to bring bad faith claims against insurers that they believe handled environmental claims unfairly.
