2nd DOE Cyberattack Exposes 14K Workers' Personal Info

Law360, New York (August 16, 2013, 7:21 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Energy on Wednesday disclosed a recent cyberattack that compromised the personal information of roughly 14,000 current and former employees, marking the second time this year that the agency's systems have been infiltrated by hackers.

In a notice emailed to employees, the DOE confirmed a recent “cyber incident” that occurred at the end of July and resulted in the “unauthorized disclosure" of federal employees' personally identifiable information, such as names and social security numbers.
