Twinkie Maker Wants To Sweeten Salaries

Law360, New York (February 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bankrupt Interstate Bakeries Corp. has asked a judge to allow it to pay up to $6 million in employee incentives, saying the bonuses could work as a powerful motivator to reach earnings targets.

In the motion filed Wednesday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri, Interstate argued that the plan is designed as an incentive for about 520 workers to increase company profitability, which would in turn increase the company's enterprise value and bulk up stakeholder returns.
