Medicare's Quality Demands Growing Too Fast, AHA Warns

Law360, New York (August 20, 2013, 8:23 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association on Monday leveled pointed criticism at Medicare's payment and quality-improvement policies, warning that patient care will be harmed by “arbitrary cuts” to reimbursement and asserting that efforts to improve treatment outcomes are expanding far too rapidly.

In a letter to high-ranking senators and congressmen, the AHA said that President Barack Obama’s budget proposal, as well as ideas advanced by regulators and the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, would jeopardize the finances of so-called post-acute care providers that help patients recover after discharge....
