DOJ, FTC Urged To Launch Antitrust Probe Of Oil Industry

Law360, New York (August 21, 2013, 3:14 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan pair of U.S. senators have asked the Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Department of Justice to investigate possible anti-competitive practices in the oil industry, expressing concern that some companies could be blocking consumer access to renewable fuels.

In a letter dated Aug. 2 but released Tuesday, Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., said they've heard multiple examples of oil industry policies that preclude gas stations from offering renewable fuels.
